Headaches and migraines are one of the most common causes of pain in many individuals. The pain can range in severity from person to person and can have a number of causes.
For many sufferers, this is a daily challenge to overcome. Luckily, Rubosky Chiropractic & Wellness utilizes revolutionary techniques to ease your pain and maximize your day-to-day comfort. Dr. Steven Rubosky can quickly identify and treat the many underlying causes of headaches and migraines. For your reference, take a look at the list below, which includes some very common types of headaches and migraines that can be treated by a professional.
Common types of head discomfort include:
Classic Migraines
- This type of migraine is usually accompanied by what could be described as an ‘Aura’. This ‘aura’ usually manifests as sensory/motor disturbances, usually preceding the migraine. Those suffering from a classic migraine will typically experience extreme sensitivity to light and sound.
Common Migraines
- Also, known as the ‘migraine headache’ this type of head discomfort, unlike a classic migraine, is not accompanied by light and sound sensitivity.
Hormonal Migraines
- Hormonal migraines occur when hormone levels in the body drop or spike. A common example is during a woman’s menstruation, when progesterone levels decrease in the body and cause a headache.
Cluster Headaches
- A Cluster Headache, or Horton’s Syndrome, is a disease in which a painful headache occurs on one side of the head for days or months on end. At any time, the headaches can fall into remission, sometimes for years at a time. Symptoms include eyelid sagging, runny nose, or redness on the side of the head associated with a headache. The attack is said to occur at the same time of day, every day.
Cervicogenic Headaches
- Called a secondary headache, this type of headache is usually linked to an internal, physical illness or injury. This can include something such as a neck injury or cervical muscle tenderness.
Tension Headaches
- This is the most common type of headache in adults, originating in the forehead or back of the skull. It is caused by stress and tension in the person and muscles, exuding anything from a dull ache to extreme waves of pain.
